The Taluk NSS
Union has celebrated the centenary of Vijayadasami Sammelanam on a grand scale
on October 14, 2013. About 25000 men, women and children of Nair community
participated in the grand procession and the meeting.
The meeting was inaugurated by Sri G Sukumaran Nair,NSS General Secretary. Celebrating Vijayadasami sammelanam is a special right of the Changananchery Taluk NSS Union.
The first Vijayadasami Sammelanam was held in the year 1913 at Perunna. Sri Mannathu Padmanabhan held the meeting to express the strong protest of the Nair community for the total disregard of the Nair leaders at a meeting held at Perunna for celebrating the birthday of the Maharaja. From that year onwards a meeting is held at perunna every year on Vijayadasami day under the auspices of Changanachery Taluk NSS Union.
