 PLATINUM JUBILEE CELEBRATION 

The Platinum Jubilee celebration was a milestone in the history of Changanacherry Taluk NSS Union .The celebration was inaugurated by the General Secretary of the Nair Service Society  Sri G Sukumaran Nair.The Taluk Union president Sri Harikumar Koikal announced a number of  schemes, projects, and developmental works in connection with the Platinum Jubilee celebration .Kudumbasangamams were conducted in all karyogams and the president along with all the committee members participated in it. This was a unique venture successfully carried out  by the President. Five regional meetings were also conducted .The auditorium of the Taluk Union was renovated with modern facilities. A  bronze bust of Sri Mannathu Padmanabhan was erected in the courtyard. The platinum jubilee valedictory meeting was a great event. It was held on October 24 ,2012 (Vijayadasami Day) at the Boys school ground at Perunna. The gathering was unprecedented. The General Secretary of Nair Service Society inaugurated the function in the presence of  NSS President , Director board members and ten thousands of  men, women and children of Nair community.

 

The Taluk Union has embarked  on many social welfare schemes in the Platinum jubilee year in addition to the existing one.Amounts given in various schemes were enhanced. Mangalyanidhi , a scheme for giving financial assistance to the widows and parents of poor families for the wedding of their daughters, schemes for helping members of  karayogams for their treatments , scholarships and endowments for students ,pension schemes for members who served as presidents and secretaries of karayogams and are in financial difficulties and financial assistance  for the construction of new karayogamandirams  are the main social welfare schemes Under the Mannam Social Service Society about 215 Swayam Sahaya Sangams are functioning. Human Resource Cell has been formed and is conducting career guidance classes pre- marital counselling classes and also personality development classes .The circulation of The Service fortnightly has very much increased in the Platinum Jubilee year.

CENTENARY OF VIJAYADASAMI SAMMELANAM
 

 The Taluk NSS Union has celebrated the centenary of Vijayadasami Sammelanam on a grand scale on October 14, 2013. About 25000 men, women and children of Nair community participated in the grand procession and the meeting. The meeting was inaugurated by Sri G Sukumaran Nair,NSS General Secretary.Celebrating Vijayadasami sammelanam is a special right of the Changananchery Taluk NSS Union. The first Vijayadasami Sammelanam was held in the year 1913 at Perunna. Sri Mannathu Padmanabhan held the meeting to express the strong protest of the Nair community for the total disregard of the Nair leaders at a meeting held at Perunna for celebrating the birthday of the Maharaja. From that year onwards a meeting is held at perunna every year on Vijayadasami day under the auspices of Changanachery Taluk NSS Union.
